It's a bit of extra content. If you've never done it it offers a little more insight into the main characters, but nothing really important. Remember that levels 1-19 are essentially 'getting to know the game' levels. The early stuff is there to teach you the game mechanics, give you some skills, get you familiar with your character, etc. You've got multiple character slots, so if you want to see what the other campaign starts are like nothing is stopping you from making a character whenever you feel like. It's a good opportunity to try out another profession too.

If you like doing all the quests, yes. If you like jumping straight in and rushing through, go ahead and do it with your other toon. I would recommend at some point doing them just to get the complete feel of the storylines, but you definitely don't have to.

Assassins seem to be (bygone?) god mode. They sure can solo still - I know, and their only problem is damage output (they won't die, unless massive enchant strip). I'd personally go ranger or ritualist. I never did a paragon or mesmer beyond about level 3 - so they might be worthy opponents!!!

All that being said, hard to toss the necro death energy, or the elementalist's DPS. Or, the monk protters... Dervish is kinda "meh"...

Warriors!!! Come out and *Pla-Ha-HAY!!!*
